That’s right, it happened. Even your Instagram is no longer sacred.
The first Instagram ad debuted Friday, from fashion brand Michael Kors and if the comments in the screenshot above are any indication, users of the Facebook-owned photo-sharing network are not happy, despite the fact that Instagram announced the addition of advertising to its feed in early October, and previewed what the ads would look like last week.
The Michael Kors Instagram ad features an image of a watch from the brand’s Timeless collection, and the company told CNET U.S. users would see the ad whether or not they followed Michael Kors on Instagram.
As previously outlined by Instagram, users who wish to hide ads can tap the button with three periods, which will enable them to provide feedback on why the ads were not interesting to them. The plan, however, is to deliver magazine-quality advertisements that it hopes audiences will enjoy.
Instagram’s ad partners at launch include Adidas, Ben & Jerry’s, Burberry, General Electric, Lexus,Levi’s, Macy’s, Michael Kors, PayPal, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
